Low Water Conditions

The Upper and Middle Dam Storage Project is licensed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to Brookfield White Pine Hydro, LLC. Due to increasingly dry conditions across the region, Richardson Lake (Middle Dam) is nearing its licensed minimum elevation of 1444.0 feet. In accordance with Article 401 of the Project’s FERC license and Appendix A, Section 4 of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection’s Water Quality Certificate governing the project’s operations, Mooselookmeguntic Lake (Upper Dam) will begin retreating below elevation 1465.0 feet to support Richardson Lake’s surface elevation and downstream flow throughout the Androscoggin River watershed.

Water level reductions may vary on a daily basis depending on weather conditions. Please monitor conditions regularly and plan your boat removals and other activities accordingly.
