A Note on Scheduled Releases

Bear Swamp Power Company LLC is not the source of the water for recreational releases passing through our hydroelectric station. As a result, the flow rate and timing are unknown until it is shared with us by a third-party upstream hydroelectric operator. This usually occurs the day prior to a release, and the Fife Brook Safe Waters page is subsequently updated upon receipt of that information.

Comment Opportunity - Public Safety Flow Release Warning System

Bear Swamp Power Company has posted a public letter related to a new Public Safety Flow Release Warning System. The letter appears below as “Letter to Stakeholders – Public Safety Flow Release Warning System Outreach” and describes the new system and the opportunity for interested stakeholders to comment.

Letter to Stakeholders - Public Safety Flow Release Warning System Outreach

The letter above outlines a new licensing requirement for the Bear Swamp Hydroelectric Project. Bear Swamp Power Company is conducting outreach to interested stakeholders to provide information about its plans to install a flow-release warning system along the Deerfield River. Please direct any comments to inquiriesMA@brookfieldrenewable.com with the subject line “Warning System Comment.” Your feedback is appreciated and will be shared with FERC for consideration as we work to fulfill this license requirement.

Please note!

Water release schedules often change without notice due to unanticipated changes in weather conditions and power system requirements. Use caution near dams. A large amount of water may be discharged without warning at any time. Your safety depends on obeying all posted safety regulations and warnings.
